| Clark State Dedicates Greene Center October 1, 2007 – Clark State Community College dedicated the opening of the Greene Center, its newest location in Beavercreek, on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. Greene Center is located at 3775 New Germany-Trebein Road. Speakers will include: Dr. Karen E. Rafinski, President, Clark State; Dr. Kathy Wiesenauer, Administrative Dean, Clark State; Rick Perales, Greene County Commissioner; Steve Austria, State Senator; Dr. David Hopkins, President, Wright State University; Bob Mills, Mills Morgan Development; David Hobson, U.S. House of Representatives; and Faye M. Flack, Chair, Clark State Board of Trustees. A special presentation that includes Bob Mills and David Hobson will also take place at the dedication. “We are quite pleased with the progress of the Greene Center and are looking forward to introducing the facility to the community,” said Karen Rafinski, President, Clark State. “Fall Quarter enrollment numbers exceeded our initial projections and we are currently serving more than two hundred students through the Greene Center.” “As we continue to plan for the future of the Greene Center, we are excited about the partnerships that are developing among our educational partners, including Wright State University and Sinclair Community College,” said Rafinski. “These partnerships are forming in order to provide area residents and businesses programming that will best meet their needs.” Clark State’s total Fall Quarter enrollment is 1.35% more than Fall Quarter 2006 and the number of credit hours that students are taking is 3.3% more than Fall Quarter 2006. The College has also seen an increase in students from Champaign, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery and Union Counties. Many of these students are taking advantage of Clark State’s extensive online learning offerings.
Clark State is pleased to welcome new Greene Center Administrative Dean Kathy Wiesenauer In this role, Wiesenauer is responsible for providing leadership for all programs and services delivered at the Greene Center, such as student enrollment, curriculum and program development and building partnerships within the Greene County community. Prior to joining Clark State, Wiesenauer had been employed by Sinclair Community College since 1990. Her most recent position at Sinclair was Special Assistant to the Senior Vice Presidents. Wiesenauer also serves as an adjunct instructor at University of Dayton. Prior to joining Sinclair, she worked at Southwestern College of Business, Southern Ohio College and University of Miami. Wiesenauer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Miami University, Master of Arts in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from University of Dayton.
Clark State announces new location in Greene County Synergy-Mills Morgan is overseeing the construction of the 52,000 square foot building, which is expected to be completed in August 2007. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Monday, February 26 at 11:30 a.m. In the meantime, Clark State classes will begin on March 26, 2007, at a temporary 13,000 square foot facility in partnership with Wright State University in University Park, 3825 Colonel Glenn Highway. Clark State has already benefited from federal and state funding sources for the Greene County expansion. State Senator Austria helped secure $150,000 in the state capital budget for initial facilities expenses. In addition, the project has benefited from federal funding secured with the help of Rep. David Hobson for AVETeC. AVETeC enabled Clark State to receive assistance from the Greentree Group in developing the project business plan and assessing the present and future technical curriculum needs of the area. Registration for Spring Quarter begins Monday, February 12, 2007 at the University Park location. Greene County is part of Clark State’s state-designated service area, which also includes Clark, Champaign and Logan counties. Clark State Community College was recognized as one of the top 50 fastest growing two-year colleges in the nation among institutions of its size by Community College Week. Enrollment has increased nearly 40 percent in the past five years and the College is currently serving 3,340 students, 4,000 non-credit students and 197 Post Secondary Option (high school) students. Clark State offers 50 degrees and certificate programs, including transfer degrees to four-year institutions and more than 130 online courses.
